Midweek tips: Hard ingredients in the vegan soap batch

This time I would like to help you with an overview about the extra ingredients you can use in your own natural soap recipe.

We all know by now, that first you will make your own basic vegan soap mixture, using hard oils, soft oils and lye solution. You will mix it carefully till the" trace" phase. At that point , you can add your chosen essential oil and extra, hard ingredients.
So let`s talk about what these "hard" ingredients could be.

cacao powder
coffee powder
oat meal
salt
clay( red, white, green)
milk powder ( goat)
calamine powder
ginger powder
cardamom powder
poppy seeds
dried flowers (rose, lavender, chamomile, etc )
chilli powder

How to use these ingredients?

Make sure that you will match the essential oils with these hard ingredients. These will add colours (cacao, chilli, calamine, clay, etc) to your soap, but also will effect your skin and body.
As a golden rule, make sure that you will not add more than 1 tablespoon of hard ingredients to your soap batch (approx. 1000gram). Never more. If you split your 1000gram soap batch, keep in mind that you need to split this 1 tablespoon of hard ingredients as well. Do not exceed the 1 tablespoon of hard ingredients.

Let`s talk about the effects of the hard ingredients on your skin and body.

energizers: coffee, ginger, chilli, sage
relaxing: chamomile
penetrate: lavender
revitalize: peppermint
hydrates: rose
refresh: rosemary
srub: coffee, oat meal, poppy seeds, salt
soften: milk
anti itching agent: calamine

Attention point: Please if you are planning to use SALT, check your recipe. The one tablespoon rule DOES NOT WORK  with salt.

P.S.: Come back next week for a salt soap recipe that works !
